LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
Registration continues for the ”Lights On Afterschool” program for Wickliffe Middle School students.  The goal of the program is to provide supervised, quality afterschool programming weekdays from 3:00 -5:00 PM throughout most of the school year.  Registration forms and program guidelines are available on line through the city website.  Each activity has a unique starting date so look at the guidelines carefully.  Call the Recreation Department if you have further questions at 943-7120. CLASSES AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER
Some new classes are being held at the Wickliffe Community/Senior Center, 900 Worden Road, in the evenings. Some ideas given to the department for new classes were flower arranging, rubber stamping, basic internet, home repair projects, automobile upkeep, and financial assistance for the general public. If you are interested in any of the above or you have an interest in learning a certain craft, or life enhancing project, let us know by calling the Recreation Department at 943-7120 or e-mail tstopp@cityofwickliffe.com.

Yoga – New Instructor- Patty McPhilips
The ancient practice of yoga is an integrated approach to health and well being. Through guided yoga postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and meditation, you will experience increased energy within a relaxed body and quiet mind. Come experience the effects of bringing body, mind, and spirit into harmony. All levels of yoga are welcome. The instructor, Patty McPhillips, is a certified yoga therapist, and student of yoga for over 25 years. She has been teaching in the area for over 15 years. Bring a mat and small pillow or blanket. Do not eat for 2 hours prior to class.  Register with the Wickliffe Recreation Department at (440) 943-7120. Held at the Wickliffe Community Senior Center. ZUMBA
Do you know Zumba? Here’s your chance to learn the newest fitness routine-an intensely fun workout combining cha-cha, salsa, reggae, and hip-hop dance moves with a few traditional moves. You’ll burn calories, laugh, dance and enjoy moving to energetic music. Class is great for teens and adults. Bring a water bottle & towel and wear good exercise shoes.Instructor: Annette Santoro. Held at Wickliffe Community/Senior Center. New day, Tuesdays, September 7, 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm. Fee: $40 for 7 classes, $7 for drop in (with no registration fees). Next session October 26.
Held on Tuesdays from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. New session will start September 7.

"HEALTH FOR LIFE" AEROBICS
Age tailored fitness aerobic class, hour long, safe and fun class which strengthens and tones muscles, reduces body fat, reduces stress, improves cardiovascular endurance and feels good all over. Instructor: Kathy Brown. Held at Wickliffe Community/Senior Center. Tuesday only session starting August 3, $20 for 4 classes. New session starts September 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Fee: $30 for 6 classes, $56 for 12 classes, and $7 for walk in (with no registration fees) 
Held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sessions: No classes in July. Classes resume on August 3 - 24, Sept 7 - Oct 12. .

TAI CHI CH'UAN
This is a centuries old classic form of Chinese exercise practiced world wide for health, longevity and the development of physical and mental well being. It is enjoyed by people of all ages.
Instructor: Paul J. Wallace. Held at the Wickliffe Community/Senior Center. August 11 through October 4, next session starts October 11. Fee: $30 a person or $39 for husband and wife or parent and sibling if signing up together.
Held on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

POLYNESIAN DANCE CLASSES
Learn the modern and ancient hula to enhance your grace and poise, as well as strengthen, and tone your body. Instructor: Dahmia. Held at the Wickliffe Community/Senior Center. Fee: $40 (8-week sessions) Now through August 19. New sessions start August 26 and October 28. Fee: $40 (8-week sessions)

TURKISH DANCE CLASSES
Learn exotic Turkish dancing while you tone and tighten your muscles. This is a fun way to exercise and learn to dance at the same time.Held at the Wickliffe Community/Senior Center. Fee: $40 (8-week sessions) Instructor: Dahmia. Now through August 19. New sessions start August 26 and October 28. Fee: $40 (8-week sessions)
Held on Thursdays, 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

BALLROOM DANCING
It can happen to you!  Join us for Ballroom Dancing classes.  Prepare yourself to become an accomplished dancer and move to the beautiful rhythms of the foxtrot, waltz, swing and cha-cha dances.  You will learn the necessary basics enabling you to enjoy dancing anywhere.  8 week course - $64 per couple or drop in fee of $9 per couple.  Instructor Mario DeStevens, has decades of experience teaching these dances and is excited to pass on his knowledge to you.  Held at the Community Senior Center at 900 Worden Road. Horseback Riding Camps
Week long camp with lessons that cover basic feeding, cleaning, grooming, health care and show preparation. Attend one week or several weeks for the weekly fee shown. Recommended for students 6 & up. Registering for Programs
Pre-registration is necessary for all programs and classes. We accept phone registrations for certain classes, followed by payment within five days to hold the spot in the class. Swimming lessons, camps, and clinics register in person only. Send payments for classes (after you pre-register over the phone) to the Wickliffe Recreation Department, 28730 Ridge Rd., Wickliffe, OH 44092. Make checks payable to the City of Wickliffe. Unless noted in each description, registration for class is now in progress.

Cancellation of Classes
Each instructor determines the size of the class he/she wishes to teach. If classes must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, those who have prepaid will be notified and refunds will be made.

Make-Up Classes
If an instructor must postpone a class, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. If the student misses a class, most programs will not allow for make-up.

Refunds
No refunds will be made after the first class meeting commences unless instructor gives permission.


CITY OF WICKLIFFE - CABLE CHANNEL 12
Cable 12 is the channel to view all of the events taking place in Wickliffe. If you belong to a Wickliffe non-profit organization, take advantage of this FREE service. The form below must be filled out. Only the facts (include dates and times), cost and phone number can be advertised. Click here to open the form and follow the instructions to advertise your event. Please note that this is a new form as of August 2008 and must be completed according to the format for your event to appear on Cable Channel 12.


BUS TRIPS

Bus trips are offered through the Recreation Department and Lakefront Lines, Inc. There are no future bus trips scheduled for the rest of 2010. Please check back in the spring, when new trips are posted for 2011.


2010 PAVILION RESERVATIONS
Pavilion Reservations
began on January 4, 2010. Reservations are made in the Wickliffe Recreation Department. Wickliffe residents must bring your driver’s license and current utility bill to reserve a pavilion. Pavilions available on holidays; Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. (On the Fourth of July, the pool pavilion will not be available as it is the headquarters for the City Club who hosts events for the day. This is the only exception.) Request forms for pavilion use are available on-line after January 4th. Click on the pavilion permit listed below to print the permit.  Permits will be mailed to the recipient after address verification is done through the department.

As of January 4, 2010, pavilion requests for 2010 may be submitted via e-mail. Please choose the pavilion you would like to reserve. Pavilions available are Coulby Pond, Coulby Pool, Jindra Park, Orlando Spraypark, or Levi Lane Park. Fill out form for the specific pavilion that you would like to reserve. If you are reserving the Orlando Spray Park Pavilion and you would like to use the spray park, send a $25.00 check made payable to the City of Wickliffe.

Wickliffe, OH 44092 or drop off at the Recreation Department office. Requests will be verified for residency and permits will be granted for date requested based upon availability.

COMMUNITY SPORTS
This is a community information list only. These are Wickliffe based organizations that serve Wickliffe residents. The City does not run these organizations. Please use the contact numbers below to receive additional information about the league or sport.

Wickliffe Soccer Club (Ages 5-12)
The Wickliffe Soccer Club offers competitive soccer leagues for players of any ability and experience level. Seasons begin in the fall and last about two months, then continue in the spring for approximately six weeks. Registration deadlines are generally mid- to late July for older divisions (U10, G10, U12, and G12) and right before Labor Day for the younger division (U8).  Divisions are as follows:
U8 (Coed): For players who are in kindergarten through 2nd grade, and who do not turn 8 before Aug. 1st. Format is 6v6 and games are played on the youth soccer fields at Coulby Park. The $35 fee includes a team shirt.
U10 (Boys/Coed) and G10 (Girls Only): Players cannot turn 10 before Aug. 1st. Format is 6v6 and home games are played on the Borromeo field on Bishop Road. Away games are played at a variety of fields around Western Lake County. The $70 fee includes a team uniform (shirts, shorts and socks).
U12 (Boys/Coed) and G12 (Girls Only): Players cannot turn 12 before Aug. 1st. Format is 8v8 and home games are played on the Borromeo field on Bishop Road. Away games are played at a variety of fields around Western Lake County and Eastern Cuyahoga County. The $70 fee includes a team uniform (shirts, shorts and socks).

Baseball
Wickliffe Baseball League, meets 3rd Tuesday of Month at 7:30 pm. at Provo House, 28855 Euclid Ave.
SIGNUPS: Registrations end March 1st. Walk-in registrations will be held on all Saturdays in February from 10am – 12 Noon at the Provo House – 28855 Euclid Ave
DIVISIONS: Baseball is offered for boys ages 7–18 and softball, fast-pitch and coach-pitch, is offered for girls ages 7 -14.

Football
Registration every Wednesday and Saturday in July. Hours: Wednesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Football Clubhouse in Coulby Park.
Class A: 7-9 year olds, 120 pounds maximum, Class AA: 10-12 year olds, 140 pounds maximum. Age based on September 1 date- birth certificate required.
Residents: $25.00 per child, $40.00 per family. Non-residents: $50.00 per child, $75.00 per family. Each player MUST purchase $25.00 in raffle tickets at registration in addition to the sign up fee per child, per family. Wickliffe Midget Football - meets 2nd Thursday of month at 8:00 p.m. at Coulby Park Clubhouse, 28730 Ridge Rd. Wickliffe Swim Team, the swim team welcomes new swimmers in all age groups.  A love for the water and the ability to swim the length of the pool are the only requirements. Meets on Saturday mornings at local pools. Practice in the morning and dinner hour at Coulby Pool.  Swimmers required to attend at least 4 practices per week.  Fee is $50 one swimmer, $75 two swimmers or $96 three or more per family.  Financial assistance is available. Sign-ups will be at the Recreation Health and Wellness Fair at the Community Center on May 8th from 11 am to 2 pm and the Recreation Hall above the old fire station on Wed., May 12 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
