REFUSE REGULATIONS
PLACEMENT OF TRASH CONTAINERS ON CURB
Wickliffe City Council recently approved Ordinance No. 2008-13 that changed portions of Chapter 961 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Wickliffe. The changes in Chapter 961.06 “Placement of Containers for Curb Service Pickup” states that all garbage, rubbish and trash containers shall be placed on the curb at the tree lawn no sooner than 4:30 p.m. on the day prior to the scheduled garbage, rubbish and trash collection and removed not later than 9:00 p.m. on the day of such collection. This is a change in times from the previous ordinance 2002-23 (passed 4-22-02) from placement of containers no sooner than 12:00 noon on the day prior to the scheduled rubbish, garbage and trash collection; and shall be removed no later than 12:00 noon on the day following such collection. This ordinance was enacted to prevent trash containers from being left on the tree lawns for long periods of time. Residents are encouraged to help keep their neighborhood looking tidy by complying with the new ordinance and promptly removing their containers from the tree lawn on the day of their scheduled pickup after trash collection has been completed.

HOLIDAY DELAYS
Collection of solid waste is delayed one day when the following holidays fall on a regularly scheduled pickup day: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

YARD WASTE
Grass clippings, leaves, and brush
must be placed in 30-gallon biodegradable paper bags or the city-designated yellow yard waste containers. All tree limbs, shrub cuttings, and wood must be cut in lengths not to exceed four feet and tied in bundles with cotton cord (not nylon twine) so that they can be easily handled by one person.

Yellow yard waste containers can be purchased from the Service Department for $30 during regular business hours. Yard waste collection will be suspended for the month of February and resume in March.

LARGE ITEMS FOR RUBBISH REMOVAL
Large items such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, hot water tanks, furniture, etc. will be picked up on regularly scheduled pickup days. Be sure to remove refrigerator and freezer doors and any other locking appliance doors.

RECYCLING SITE - COULBY PARK
Use the City Hall driveway to access the drop-off recycling site, located in the Coulby Park parking lot near the tennis courts and Aquatic Center. Recycling bins at the drop off site are emptied on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. If the bins are full, please come back at another time after the bins have been emptied. This will prevent overflow of the bins. Please, do not throw your recyclables on the parking lot area around the bins. Help keep Wickliffe clean and neat. Thank you!
