Euclid Avenue Strategic Development Initiative

The Euclid Avenue Redevelopment Plan was presented at a Wickliffe Area Chamber of Commerce event in September 2002. Mayor Tom Ruffner and members of his administration presented the final plan, endorsed by City Council, to Chamber members, business owners, and interested residents.

The Euclid Avenue Redevelopment Plan features business building facade improvements, Liberty Gardens park area, streetscaping, and major infrastructure improvements along Euclid Avenue. Streetscape improvements included repairs and replacement of curbs and sidewalks, installation of brick pavers, enhanced crosswalks, benches, trees with grates, and ornamental light poles.

Most of the streetscaping improvements have taken place in the newly designated “Town Center” area located between Lloyd/Lincoln road and Worden/Bailey road. Zoning of the General Business district and Local Business districts were combined into a new Town Center district, which incorporated the previous zoning classification and added to it, creating a mixed-use zoning. These changes will help to attract new retail opportunities with pedestrian traffic.

The primary goal of all these changes is to create an attractive redevelopment environment which can sustain new and existing businesses for many years to come.
