When considering opening a business in Wickliffe, it is recommended to take the following steps:
- Site selection - find the right location. Please use the following link to visit the Available Properties Page on the Lake Development Authority website to see a current list of properties for sale/lease or contact us if you have a specific commercial property in mind. LDA Available Properties
- Review the City's zoning map to determine permitted uses.
- Reach out to Mayor Sakacs at 440-943-7105 or email Mayor Sakacs to discuss your project and potential ways the City can assist.
Required Approvals
- Complete RITA's blue Business Registration form, found here .
- Approval is needed from the Wickliffe Building and Fire Departments to confirm that a business is a permitted use.
- Any change of use requires approval through the Wickliffe Planning Commission. If a change of use from the previous use will be necessary, contact the Wickliffe Building Department for assistance at 440-943-7115.
- All new work or change of use requires stamped/sealed design plans which must include the following: construction of walls, plumbing, electrical, heating, and fire suppression. Please consult the Lake County Building Department at 440-350-2636 for any needed building alterations and required permits.
