Permits
The Building Department reviews plans and issues building permits for all new construction, alterations of existing structures, and additions to buildings.
The Building Department also reviews plans and specifications and issue permits for plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) work in the community. (Electrical permits are obtained through Lake County Lake County Residential Electrical Permit Application)
All contractors must register with the building department before obtaining permits. Any contractor starting/beginning work without proper permits will be charged two times the amount of the original permit fee per Ordinance 2011-75.
Permit applications may be downloaded from this page. Permit Applications are also available to pick up in the kiosk in the City Hall Foyer during business hours. You may call to have an application mailed to you.
Fees and required drawings are explained on each permit/application. Please fill out application completely.

Checks made payable to City of Wickliffe should accompany all applications in drop box or Credit Card payments are accepted by phone.
A 1% state tax is charged on all building permits except: Fences, Concrete, Tool Sheds and Occupancy Permits.
Re-Inspection Fee: A $25 "return fee" for additional inspection is charged if the area to be inspected is not prepared at the time of initial inspection. Example: Sidewalks not cleared of snow prior to sidewalk inspection.
